I've heard that replacing your front, and I should imagine rear, brake hose with new  ones can improve braking. My car pulls to the left quite badly. Any ideas? -- as a follow up, I have since had the front brakes repaired. Easiest remedy is to replace all brake master cylinders they cost around $19.00 each cheap enough and does the job they work fine now.
Hello, Im Andy Woodley and I am currently doing up a 1950 Prefect and am looking to obtain a windscreen wiper arm & blade for my car.
I also has 2 rear doors, left & right  and also a back & front mudguard for a 1950 prefect that I want to sell, I can be contacted on ph 07 8896100 or at 11 Cobham Drive Morrinsville.
I'm looking for Prefect 100E 1959 bits and pieces. PH 06 355 5515 or e-mail me here at mrmodels@xtra.co.nz
You can recolour your old faded tail lights by using a clear paint called Tamiya. No X27 which is Orange Clear and X26 which is Red Clear. Either you can paint your bulbs, the internal defuser or the inside of the light itself. I've done mine and they look great and we sell the paint of course !

Great place for spares (although a little pricey)  www.smallfordspares.co.uk  Thanks Anton for the info.
Here is a site that may be of some interest. It is www.restospares.co.nz They do a series of accessories for Fords. They have just produced some door handle gaskets for my Prefect and they look great. Thanks Restospares!
If anyone is interested  (Magaliesburg Reservations) have found 4 virtually complete 1948 prefects on a farm in Natal, South Africa. The owner will break for spares. Contact me if you need help. Contact info@magaliesburg.com
Another good source for older parts is Mr Bruce Ardell. Bruce is contactable only on land line. Based in Fordell, near Wanganui PH 06 342 7713. There's not much Bruce doesn't know! He has been very kind to me over the last few months; even selling me one of his prized cars - a 1957 Morris Minor. Thanks Bruce.

Al's Info :  I am the proud owner of a 1951 Prefect which has 21,400 miles on the clock. It is an export version (LHD) with a 6v electrical heater. Which I think that only vehicles exported to North America had this fitted. The type designation is E493A produced between 1949 & 1953. Spares I obtain from the UK or from relatives in Britain.
Above 40 MPH the car becomes erratic compared with today's cars. Check out Al's resteration on ----- http://www.ourjournal.ca/Annabelle.htm --- My home e-mail address is Email: als@almarkfinancial.com . Regards Al Simmons. ----- See pics of Al's car on   Ford Prefect Owners Club page

Anna's Info :  I'm from auckland.  She's a 1958 100E deluxe, 3 speed, mostly standard as they come. I have had for approximately 3-4 years. Its my first restoration and all I know is what I'm learning as I go and what I ask. She only has approximately 69,000 miles and I bought her off her original owner who was 91 years old.
Since I've had her I've just fixed bits and pieces to get her warranted and 'VINned', such as changing the brakes and clutch cylinders, hanging the shocks, tyres, belts, a new radiator and exhaust etc.I had problems with the brakes initially but I also changed the brake hoses and cylinder and bled the entire system and now they are good. Currently I'm not working on her because I'm saving up to get her blasted, panelled and painted.  I havn't had any major problems with her that I can think of . . .
I also have a spare Prefect. I'm not sure what year it is but it's the same shape as my one. The body is fairly wasted but it has an engine which apparently worked, although I haven't tried it. I have taken some parts off it though. ----- See pic of Anna's car on Ford Prefect Owners Club page
It would be interesting to hear from others interested!  Thanks Anna
